Woops! Damn the auto-load email feature…

We’ve all done it at some point. You’re typing an email address and start with the first couple letters in someone’s name and the auto-load feature pops up with the suggested address, so you hit enter. You finish your email and click the send button. Two seconds later you realize the “sent mail” says you just addressed that email to your friend detailing your latest drunken escapades to your grandmother. SUPER!

The only thing you can think of is “Where the heck is the UN-SEND option?? Didn’t there used to be a friggin’ un-send option!!!???”

Well as bad as that experience is, this person topped it when they accidently sent an internal document on a specific reporter for a Microsoft PR briefing to that specific Wired reporter (read the comments, they’re harsh). I can’t express how sorry I feel for this individual and only hope that they won’t need a trip to rehab (for excessive binge drinking due to professional embarrassment)  before the month is out.

All I can think is… this could’ve so easily been me (in fact I’ve come dangerously close a couple of times).

  1. “Unsend” would be a God send!
