How much do I care?

The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time

It’s a good question and one that was recently raised by a blog on green marketing of all things. Cause Encounters posted on a recent report that was released Yankelovich. The results were sad if not completely surprising. “The majority of consumers don’t care all that much about the environment. Green simply has not captured the public imagination.”

This is supposedly because customers don’t see the environment as a problem, which is the purpose behind any purchase (to solve the problem). But after so many books, movies, and concerts (LiveEarth anyone?) how can this be???

I’m not suggesting everyone start paying premium prices for “green” goods, but part of me cries out in protest just hearing how little action even in their purchases, people are willing to make given the mounting proof that the environment isin fact in danger. How you educate yourself doesn’t matter – read books like Al Gore’s or the super trendy The Green Book. But please say it isn’t so that we don’t care and DO something about it!
