BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag)… What did you think I meant?

I’ve gathered up a stylish little collection of reusable grocery bags over the past year or so (I’m a big fan of Trader Joe’s fun looks) and like to think I’ve made a small difference in the number of wasted plastic bags out there. Though I originally had some difficulty remembering to bring the bags into the store with me, I’ve happily established this habit now and was psyched when I saw that Whole Foods was taking the drastic step of eliminating plastic bags all together!

That’s right, the Washington Post reports that the grocery giant announced late last month that they’d only be offering recycled paper or reusable bags only in their stores and that by April 22nd (Earth Day) there won’t be a plastic bag in sight in any of their 270 sites around the globe.

You can get reusable bags easily from your local grocery store and most sell them at very affordable prices. So there is no excuse! Keep them in your car and grab them whenever you make your grocery run. An added bonus is that they bags have sturdy handles and can hold more in addition to lookin’ pretty.
