North End’s Fisherman’s Feast

Boston is known for a lot of traditional events that various cultures have introduced over time. (We all know the craziness of St. Patrick’s day and the all to familiar pub crawl)

I came across the North End’s Fisherman’s Feast(August 14-17) though and was intrigued! An old Italian tradition practiced by Fisherman to honor the Madonna de Soccorso (Lady of Help), this four day event was brought in by Sicilian immigrants back in 1911 and has been an annual celebration ever since. Take a look at their calendar of events to see the local flavor and stop on down if you’re in the area.
