Dine Tampa Bay Restaurant Week is NOW!

I’ve already professed my love of Restaurant Week events in past posts, so it should be no surprise that I gave a hoot of celebration when I saw the cover of the TBT paper last Friday morning and saw Dine Tampa Bay Bay Restaurant Week’s Ad.

The last Restaurant Week in Tampa which happened just a month and a half ago was a tad disappointing, especially for this pescatarian (seafood is the only meat I eat – no land creatures). They had some decent menus, but most included chicken or burgers, which didn’t hit home with my veggie-loving tastebuds.

I haven’t given up hope though!

With the joint forces of presenters Tampa Bay & Co., St. Petersburg Clearwater Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, they’ve certainly got a decent amount of muscle and good organization abilities to make this worthwhile. Hopefully it’s a great success, especially as it’s timed right before the start of that other little event happening here in late August… the RNC.

I was thrilled to see that Dine Tampa Bay Restaurant Week, which started this past weekend (Friday to be exact) and goes through August 17th, has 130 participating restaurants boasting prix fixe menus ranging at $25, $35 or $45.  You can view the menus for each restaurant online and then make your reservation. Most menus have several options for each course, meaning there’s a better chance of getting something just right for your tastes.

The Tampa Bay Times is also sponsoring a “Be a Dinner Winner for a Year” contest where you enter yourself for a chance to win a year’s worth (12) of $100 gift cards to Tampa Bay restaurants.

Ummm… yes please!

I am sincerely hoping I get out to enjoy this Restaurant Week and make time to visit some favorite and new restaurants in the area. Datz and Seasons 52 both have my attention right off the bat, with a good variety of options that include vegetarian and seafood dishes I know would make my mouth water.

When was the last time you took advantage of a Restaurant Week? Was it all you hoped for?
